FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Host Families Needed for Intercultural Exchange Program at Central Illinois High Schools Flanagan-Cornell, Dwight Township

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Host Families Needed for Intercultural Exchange Program at Central Illinois High Schools Flanagan-Cornell, Dwight Township
Pontiac, Illinois, USA    August 17, 2015
International exchange high school students are scheduled to arrive at O’Hare airport this week to stay for the school year. Before each can depart their home country, their J1 Visa requires that a host family will receive them. The sponsor of those visas is Youth For Understanding.

A non-profit international educational organization with partners in more than 60 different countries, Youth For Understanding is one of the world’s oldest, largest and most respected intercultural exchange programs. YFU USA helps provide opportunities for students by working in partnership with governments, corporations, foundations, schools and educators worldwide. Through creating global learning opportunities, YFU promotes international understanding and world peace.

Two Central Illinois high schools, Dwight Township H.S. and Flanagan-Central H.S. have seats for these exchange students if an in-district host family can be identified and screened. It is important to note that, per J1 Visa guidelines, the Host Family receives no compensation for hosting the exchange student. Host families must be able to provide the student with three meals per day for the school year. For other specific requirements, talk with the Local Coordinator.

The U.S. Department of State-certified Local Coordinator is Lisa M. Blacker, a resident of Pontiac, IL and an independent contractor for YFU. Ms. Blacker’s office phone is 630-230-1103, ext 11. For student profiles and more information, go to http://www.ConnectionVictory.com/Intercultural-Exchange.

Prospective host families are asked to contact their high school Principal and the Local Coordinator today to ensure the students are able to register for classes and begin school as soon as possible.
